On the eve of the fifth anniversary of Beslan terror act, the members of the All-Russian Public Organization "Voice of Beslan" have addressed the parliamentarians of Northern Caucasus asking them to lobby the introduction of the status of a terror act victim before Russian President Dmitri Medvedev.
"September 3 is five years after Beslan tragedy, which shocked the whole world. However, even death of children could not force the authorities to take resolute measures against terrorism and ensure the person's constitutional right to life," runs the appeal of the terror act victims.
"There are more and more victims, but our state, unlike others, has no status of terror act victim. Some help is rendered only right after the tragedy, but later, parents, victims' family members and wounded children remain face to face with their problems."
Therefore, the victims ask to send an appeal, now, on the eve of the fifth anniversary of Beslan tragedy, to Russian President about the need of the federal law on the status of a terror act victim.
The Austrian newspaper Die Presse writes on the occasion of this sad date that today, five years after tragedy, there is no peace in Beslan: spiritual wounds remain unhealed and the circumstances of the tragedy are still unclear to the end.
Despite the resistance of some of the mothers, who wanted to demolish the ruined school and build a temple in that place, the "Beslan Mothers" Committee managed to defend the building, the edition quotes the "InoPressa.ru". According to Susanna Dudieva, chair of the Committee, the school should stay a reminder about those dreadful events.
Now, Ms Dudieva plans to get her juridical education, in order, in her own words, to be in a better position in arguing with the authorities. In the opinion of "Beslan Mothers", the official bodies are deliberately protracting the investigation; therefore, we still do not know about the reason of the deadly fire on the third day of the storm: whether it was a terrorists' explosion or the special agents' storm. It is still not clear, whether anyone knew about the prepared terror act, the activists emphasize.
However, in the everyday life another problem is much more important, the edition remarks: how to cope with torments? Teacher Nadezhda Gurieva, who had lived through that capture of hostages, now tells that a certain boy of 13 every days asks for a short leave from the lesson and goes to inspect the rooms of the new school, checking for any armed person, who could hide somewhere in a corner.
In the context of the anniversary and commemorating events, the schools of Beslan and Pravoberezhny District of North Ossetia will start on September 5, as reported by the "Interfax".
