Biyakai Magomedov: "order" to strangle "Chernovik" failed

Oct 17 2009, 06:00

After replacement of the Public Prosecutor of Dagestan, the efforts of the local prosecutor's office against five journalists of the edition "Chernovik", accused of excitation of national, racial or religious hostility, began to come to naught; it means that the urgency of the "order" to shut down the edition has been exhausted. This was stated by Biyakai Magomedov, the lawyer of the "Chernovik".

"Now, the court has sent our case to the prosecutor's office for elimination of some drawbacks; these drawbacks were indicated not only by us, but also by the court. The prosecutor's office has accepted it back, and, most likely, it will be simply returned to the inspector. However, now the prosecutor's office should unite this case with the other, also opened against us. Initially, they had sent 10 articles of our edition to examination. And after a while, they suddenly did the same with 30 more articles," Mr Magomedov said to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

He notes that it means that the prosecution had initially wanted to incriminate multiplicity of crimes, that is - repetition of offences.
