As reported by the authorities, Rizvan Osmaev, Emir of the Shali and Kurchaloy Districts, also known under nickname "Gyurza" (blunt-nosed viper), and a certain Khasan Ozdamirov ("Herat") were liquidated in the vicinity of the Chechen city of Argun.
The operation was commanded personally by President of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov. The suspected militants had been secretly shadowed. In the vicinity of the dwelling settlement Belgatoy, near the Federal Highway "Kavkaz", Osmaev rendered armed resistance at detention. He opened fire on law enforcers and began throwing self-made grenades - the so-called "Khattabkas". He was shot dead by response fire. The "Gazeta.Ru" reports that more firearms and grenades were found in the venue.
Ruslan Alkhanov, Chechen Interior Minister, said that under the available operative information Osmaev was involved in many grave crimes against peaceful citizens, militiamen and militaries.
