North Ossetia starts mourning actions dated to September 2004 terror act

People began coming to School No. 1 in Beslan since early in the morning; and before the first ring at 9:15 a.m. over 2500 persons gathered in the school yard. Taimuraz Mamsurov, head of North Ossetia, Larissa Khabitsova, chair of the parliament, Nikolai Khlyntsov, chairman of the government, and many republic's officials came to commemorate the victims.

Sports journalist attacked in Azerbaijan

The Baku police have started investigating an attack on the well-known sports observer Rasul Shukyursoy (Allahverdiev). As reported by the 4th branch of the Binagadin district police division, currently investigatory actions are underway to reveal the suspect and attract him to responsibility.

Coordination board of Balkar organizations starts preparing Congress of Balkar People

On August 31, the coordination board (CB) of Balkar NGOs made a decision to convoke a congress for deciding on the issue of self-determination of the Balkar people. Bakhaudin Etezov was unanimously elected to be the chairman of the organizing committee of the congress. The organizing committee includes all the CB members and will invite experts - Balkar historians, economists and lawyers.

Leonid Roshal is ready to treat the boy beaten by power agents in Dagestan in his clinic

Doctor Leonid Roshal, Director of the Moscow Scientific-Research Institute of Emergency Children's Surgery and Traumatology, said that his hospital is ready to take Makhmud Ahmedov, 14, beaten by militiamen in Dagestan, for further treatment. The case about beating the teenager is under supervision of President of Dagestan, the republic's government has reported.

Yerevan mayoralty bans oppositional rally in Freedom Square

Having banned the oppositional rally in the Freedom Square on September 17, the mayoralty offered to hold the action in the territory adjoining Matenadaran. The Armenian National Congress (ANC) believes this decision to be "obviously illegal".

Court awards 30,000 roubles of compensation to resident of Chechnya for inspector's actions

On August 31, the judicial panel on civil cases of the Supreme Court of Chechnya upheld the decision of the Leninskiy District Court of Grozny of May 15, 2010, on awarding compensation to local resident Muslim Kulaev of the moral harm caused to him by actions of the inspector of the inter-district investigatory division (IDID) at the prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation for the Chechen Republic.

ECtHR to consider claims of Azerbaijani citizens to Armenia and vice versa

Information about attack on Tsentoroy remains contradictory

Dagestan: followers of Turkish scholar complain of power agents' pressure

Ibragim Mutrazaliev, a resident of Makhachkala and a follower of the Turkish scholar Said Nursi, whose written works were forbidden in Russia by the court in 2007, said that he was summoned to the Department of the Russian FSB for Dagestan, where he was asked to evidence against another Said Nursi's follower - Ziyavdin Dapaev. The latter, against whom a criminal case was opened under the article of the Russian Criminal Code dealing with "organizing the activity of an extremist organization", told about pressure on his relatives.
