Internet users raise over 7500 US dollars on multimedia project about Grozny

For more than two years, photojournalists Olga Kravets, Maria Morina and Oksana Yushko have been making photos of the capital of Chechnya; their works are forming the multimedia project "Grozny: Nine Cities". To have the project finished, a fundraising campaign was launched on the Internet.

Tbilisi and Batumi host Christmas marches "Alilo"

On January 7, Christmas marches "Alilo" were held in the cities of Tbilisi and Batumi. In the Georgian capital the event was blessed by Catholicos-Patriarch Elias II. He met a festive procession and handed sweets and gifts over to the participants.

The organization "Internews-Georgia" has published a report on the study of the tolerance level and use of "hate speech" in the Georgian printed media with regard to ethnic, religious and sexual minorities. According to its summary, Georgian newspapers pay less attention to religious minorities in comparison with attention paid to ethnic and sexual ones.

Azerbaijan bans foreign TV serials on national TV channels

In Azerbaijan, starting May 1, 2012, the ban on screening foreign TV serials and feature films on national TV channels comes into effect. The appropriate decision was made on December 22 by the National TV and Radio Council (NTRC).

Film "A Bitter Taste of Freedom" screened in Moscow is based on unique materials, shot during Anna Politkovskaya's life

On December 8, in Moscow, the conference hall of the office of "Memorial" at No. 5 Karetny Lane made a show of the film by the well-known documentary filmmaker Marina Goldovskaya "A Bitter Taste of Freedom", dedicated to Anna Politkovskaya, the observer of the "Novaya Gazeta". The film contains unique documentary footage shot during several years of the journalist's life.

Georgians win "Junior Eurovision" in Yerevan

The winner of the "Junior Eurovision-2011" contest, held on December 3 in Yerevan is the Georgian ensemble "Candy" for performance of the song "Candy Music"." The second and the third places went to young singers from the Netherlands and Belarus.
