Russian media to bring action on "Imedi" for using their video materials

Russian information resources will go to court against the "Imedi" TV Channel for the illegal, in their opinion, use of their materials in the scandalous report about alleged invasion of Russian troops into Georgia and assassination of President Saakashvili.

Patarkatsishvili family demands "Imedi" back

The family of the deceased businessman Badri Patarkatsishvili, who was the founder of "Imedi", has treated the hoax about invasion of Russian troops into the country as a provocative experiment and demanded to immediately return the confiscated TV Company back to them.

Schools teachers in several districts of Chechnya complain of salary delays

Schools teachers of several districts of the Chechen Republic see no salaries for two months already. The issue was discussed on March 11 in Grozny at a sitting with participation of the head of the Ministry of Education, city and regional departments of education and school directors. The authorities promise to solve the problem in the near future.

Participants of Moscow-Tbilisi-Yerevan space bridge differ in assessing "Verkhni Lars" opening

In the course of the space bridge held on March 9 by the RIA "Novosti" between Armenian, Georgian and Russian experts, who discussed the opening of the surface border between Russia and Georgia at the check points "Darial" and "Verkhni Lars", it became clear that the experts viewed the event differently. Alexei Malashenko from the Carnegie Institute treated the fact positively, while Georgiy Khaindrava, one of the leaders of the non-parliamentary opposition, found incompatible such factors like "occupation of Georgian regions" and simultaneous restoration of communication between the two countries.

Georgia and the European Union have signed the agreement on united air space. The document assumes to build, within 2 years after signing, the united Georgian-EU aviation space.

Georgia voices readiness to restore air traffic with Russia

If accord is reached by private airlines, the official Tbilisi is ready to resume regular air flights between Georgia and Russia, said Nino Kalandadze, deputy minister of foreign affairs of Georgia.

Residents of South Ossetia state that they received no compensation

Many residents of South Ossetia complain that they received no compensations, due to them under the decision made after Russia had recognized independence of South Ossetia. The compensations were intended to the victims of the warfare in August 2008. Many of those who received the money assure that it was enough to reimburse only a small part of damage.

The Prosecutor's Office of Chechnya has established numerous facts of deliberate overpricing of medicinal goods by medical establishments and drugstores of the republic. Nine officials are brought to administrative responsibility.

In Dagestan, workers of Gimri Tunnel are examined for TB

The administration of the Limited Liability Company (LLC) "Dorstroyholding" has obliged all the workers engaged in construction of the Gimri Tunnel, without any exception, to undergo x-ray examination. The necessary medical equipment was brought to the construction site specifically for this purpose.

Chechen authorities refute introduction of livestock and poultry tax

The authorities of the Chechen Republic have officially announced that the rumours about introduction of taxation of domestic animals and poultry have nothing to do with reality. The efforts of local administrations who make house-by-house visits and register livestock and poultry are explained only by the intention of the authorities to have a "clear idea about the population of privately owned animals."

Travel companies see no prospects for tourism in Chechnya yet

Authorities of Nagorno-Karabakh plan to launch airport this autumn

Residents of Chechen villages report accounting of animals and poultry

Residents of some Chechen villages report that officials from district and settlement administrations are touring over households and register all the animals raised by local residents. Under peasants' stories, such officials' actions have the aim of subsequent taxation.

Energy-saving programme for the capital of North Ossetia extended to five years

On February 22, Mayor of Vladikavkaz Sergey Dzantiev and officials of the Russian Power Agency discussed a programme draft for saving energy and improving the power efficiency in the capital of North Ossetia. Implementation of its first-order measures will demand about 270 million roubles from the local budget.
