Doctor Leonid Roshal, Director of the Moscow Scientific-Research Institute of Emergency Children's Surgery and Traumatology, said that his hospital is ready to take Makhmud Ahmedov, 14, beaten by militiamen in Dagestan, for further treatment. The case about beating the teenager is under supervision of President of Dagestan, the republic's government has reported.

Court awards 30,000 roubles of compensation to resident of Chechnya for inspector's actions

On August 31, the judicial panel on civil cases of the Supreme Court of Chechnya upheld the decision of the Leninskiy District Court of Grozny of May 15, 2010, on awarding compensation to local resident Muslim Kulaev of the moral harm caused to him by actions of the inspector of the inter-district investigatory division (IDID) at the prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation for the Chechen Republic.

ECtHR to consider claims of Azerbaijani citizens to Armenia and vice versa

Dagestan: followers of Turkish scholar complain of power agents' pressure

Ibragim Mutrazaliev, a resident of Makhachkala and a follower of the Turkish scholar Said Nursi, whose written works were forbidden in Russia by the court in 2007, said that he was summoned to the Department of the Russian FSB for Dagestan, where he was asked to evidence against another Said Nursi's follower - Ziyavdin Dapaev. The missing Abdurakhman Abdurakhmanov, son of Shamil Abdurakhmanov, a federal judge of the Leninskiy District of Makhachkala, was recruited by members of the extremist underground and was a member of the grouping engaged in purchase and delivery to militants of regimentals, appliances, components for producing self-made explosive devices. This was stated by the united press centre of law enforcement bodies of Dagestan.

Advocate of kidnapped resident of Dagestan refutes his client's surrender

Magomed Guchuchaliev, advocate of Timur (Suleiman) Kurbanmagomedov, who disappeared on August 20 in Makhachkala, reports that the MIA of Dagestan is misinforming the public by stating that his client voluntarily surrendered on August 28. According to the advocate, Kurbanmagomedov was kidnapped and tortured by power agents.

Dolidze: Georgian authorities fail to address refugees' problems

Several families, evicted on August 13 from the hospital in Isani district, continue their hunger strike in front of the Ministry for the Matters of Refugees and Temporarily-Displaced Persons and Accommodation in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia. On August 24, four of them sewed their mouths to show their commitment not to take food. In the opinion of Victor Dolidze, a deputy of the City Assembly of Tbilisi, the authorities are unable to solve refugees' problems.

The foreigners who visit Abkhazia and South Ossetia without permit of Georgian authorities will be exposed to criminal liability, once they appear in the territory of Georgia. This was stated today by Shota Utiashvili, official spokesman of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Georgia. Today, it became known that citizens of Russia and Armenia are already behind bars in Georgia for illegal border crossing.

Power agents forced resident of Chechnya to confess of links with liquidated militant, rights defenders say

The resident of the Grozny District of Chechnya, a relative of the owner of the house, where militant Khamzat Shemilev was killed on August 21, was kidnapped by power agents and kept in custody for about 24 hours. They demanded him "to confess" that he was Shemilev's helper; otherwise they threatened to kill him and announce that he was a terrorist-suicide bomber. This was reported by the head of one of local human rights NGOs.
