Journalists detained in Ingushetia: publications in media saved our lives

Israpil Shovkhalov, editor-in-chief, and Abdullah Duduev, chief editor, of the Caucasian independent magazine "Dosh", detained by power agents in Ingushetia on March 9, assert that timely publications in media about their detention allowed them to survive.

ODIHR: trials on March 1, 2008, events revealed imperfections of Armenian judiciary

The succession of litigations in the aftermath of the post-election violence that burst out in March 2008 in Yerevan has revealed deficiencies of the judicial system of Armenia. This is stated in the report of the Office of Democratic Institutes and Human Rights (ODIHR) of the OSCE (Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe).

Lebedev: UN Special Representative's report on his visit to South Ossetia is lopsided and biased

The Russian delegation labelled as politicized the report of Walter Kelin, Special Representative of Secretary General of the United Nations on Internally Displaced Persons' Rights, which summed up his visit to South Ossetia. The report was presented on March 8 at the 13th Session of the United Nations on Human Rights (HRS) held in Switzerland. In the opinion of Mikhail Lebedev, Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation at the UN Branch and other international organizations in Geneva, the report is lopsided, biased and contains factual mistakes.

Claim of Novorossisk UVD head to Dymovskiy and Karastelyov to be considered on March 23

Fate of Chechen resident who disappeared in Ingushetia still unknown

Mair-Ali Vakhaev, a resident of the Achkhoy-Martan District of Chechnya who disappeared on February 11 in the Sunzha District of Ingushetia, is still undetected. Armenian Appeal Court cuts journalist Pashinyan's imprisonment

Nalchik holds rally on Memory Day of Balkars' deportation victims

Chechen residents treat Bastrykin's idea to fingerprint all NCFD residents differently

The offer of Alexander Bastrykin, Chairman of the Investigatory Committee at the Prosecutor's Office (ICPO) of Russia, to enforce mandatory fingerprinting for all citizens of the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD), caused extremely negative reaction in public and human rights activists. Sappers to blow up mine-studded houses in the venue of special operation in Ingushetia

Two private houses in the special operation zone in Ekazhevo village, Nazran District of Ingushetia, had been mined with non-extractable mines, as reported by a source in power agencies. Examination results of Denisova's PCs cause lawyers' doubts

Dagestan: residents are negative to overall fingerprinting

Activists of public and political circles of Dagestan have criticized the offer of Alexander Bastrykin, head of the Investigatory Committee at the Prosecutor's Office (ICPO) of Russia to take fingerprints of all residents of Northern Caucasus.
