Residents of Kavkazskie Mineralnye Vody demand to stop cutting trees on Mount Mashuk

Representatives of the public ecological organization "Solnechny Patrul" (Solar Patrol) brought to the Essentuki office of Alexander Khloponin, the Plenipotentiary Envoy of the President to the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD), an open letter of residents of the region named Kavkazskie Mineralnye Vody (Caucasian Mineral Waters) demanding to stop cutting trees on Mount Mashuk. The similar letters were sent to Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.

About 3000 spent New Year holidays near Mount Elbrus

In early 2012, during the New Year and Christmas holidays, the vicinities of Mount Elbrus welcomed about three thousand tourists, two times less than last year, said the press-service of the administration of the Elbrus District of Kabardino-Balkaria.

A tourist from Astrakhan who got lost found in Elbrus

The rescuers found Alexander Karnaukhov, resident of Astrakhan, who lost his way in Elbrus. The tourist got no injuries.

Chechen authorities promise to open ski resort "Veduchi" in three years; residents want more factories

It is planned to finish construction of the ski resort "Veduchi", which was launched in 2011 in the mountainous Itum-Kalin District of Chechnya, in 2014. As reported by the office of the leader and the government of Chechnya, the ski resort will be an all-season one, and the ski routes will suit all categories of sports fans. Not all local residents support the idea of building a ski resort in Chechnya, claiming that the republic needs to recover its industrial potentials more.

Cruise tourism to be promoted on Caspian Sea
