Reaction of Edinaya Rossiya to Shtygashev's phrase provokes new protest in Kalmykia
Kalmyk activists expressed their dissatisfaction with a party penalty as the only response to the statement about the deportation of Kalmyks voiced by Vladimir Shtygashev, the speaker of the parliament of Khakassia, a member of the "Edinaya Rossiya" (United Russia) Party. The activists announced holding a next action.

Karachay-Cherkessia becomes worst region in Southern Russia in life quality rating
Karachay-Cherkessia occupied the last but one place among the regions of Russia in terms of quality of life. The top ten outsiders are also Ingushetia, Kalmykia, and North Ossetia. The best result among the regions of Southern Russia was shown by the Krasnodar Territory, which took the sixth place.

The Elista Mayoralty has refused to sanction a rally demanding to bring to justice Vladimir Shtygashev, the Speaker of the Khakassian Parliament, for his words about the Stalinist deportation of Kalmyks. The organizers of the action would not agree with officials' arguments.

Activists demand to punish speaker of Khakassia Parliament for his words about Kalmyks' deportation
Residents of Kalmykia have asked the General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) to check the statements of Vladimir Shtygashev, the Speaker of the Parliament of Khakassia, about the Stalin deportation of Kalmyks. Batu Khasikov, the head of Kalmykia, has criticized Shtygashev for justifying repressions, but the authors of appeals have found the reaction of republic's authorities too mild.

Half of those punished for rallies in Kalmykia are pensioners
Nine out of twenty activists found guilty of taking part in non-sanctioned protest actions held in Elista, the capital of Kalmykia, are pensioners, who stated that they are unable to pay the awarded fines.

Court fines initiator of failed rally in Elista
The Elista City Court imposed a fine of 5000 roubles on activist Semyon Ateev, who sought holding a rally against Dmitry Trapeznikov. The rally was not sanctioned by the authorities and did not take place, but Semyon Ateev should have notified the authorities concerning changing his mind about holding the event, the court decided. The activist says he intends to appeal against the court's decision.
